It’s incredible the amount of things you can do with Hilti. For me, it’s been a journey full of opportunities - both for my career and for my personal life and family.
I joined Hilti as a Martin Hilti Foundation student 15 years ago. I was at university in Madrid when I applied for the scholarship in Tulsa, USA. Little did I know it was the beginning of a great personal and professional adventure!
My first job at Hilti saw me with a scanner and forklift, scanning bar codes for our product portfolio in HNA. There I collaborated with Hilti’s SAP implementation team, and I later took my experience to help implement SAP in Spain. After that, I became logistics process expert, and then enjoyed a short but intense and invaluable experience in sales.
Spain and Portugal soon merged operations and I became warehouse manager for this newly-created sub-region. Next, I joined the IMPACT+ program, which brought me a range of new perspectives, as well as new colleagues and friends for life.
From there, another role and another part of Europe – plus a wife along the way! After three years of living in Switzerland, we moved as a couple to Mexico, where we still are today, now with a growing family in tow.
As an emerging marketing, Mexico is a great professional experience for me - yet another way of seeing the business. It’s also very exciting as a cultural family experience.
The common theme in all my years at Hilti – including tough times like the economic crisis in Spain or our warehouse fire in Magny – has been the enduring Hilti spirit. Working together with great people and a great company culture.
From my very first day to now, I am constantly inspired by the spirit of my colleagues towards excellence for our customers and the care we give to everyone’s career development needs.
I first learned of Hilti during an operations case study in business school. Upon graduation, I was looking to make a change from the Aerospace industry and was attracted to Hilti’s corporate culture, market presence and development opportunities. The combination of inspiring leaders who I met during the interview process and Hilti’s solution-oriented atmosphere motivated me to join the company.
In my six years with Hilti, I have a held a wide array of positions. I started at the global headquarters in project management, helping to develop products for the global market. I then moved onto the supplier quality area in Shanghai to optimize our supply chain and build up a new team. I now support the Asian market region by bringing tool services to the forefront of our value proposition. Along the way, I have learned and grown in all these positions in different ways, all with an encouraging amount of endorsement and support from the company. Hilti continues to stretch my capabilities. I have honed my business acumen by working in diverse teams to tackle interesting challenges, gained leadership capabilities in unfamiliar and ambiguous environments and learned how to contribute to our corporate ambitions by demanding the best of myself.
What makes Hilti unique is the high level of empowerment and dedication to development the company gives to each of their employees. If you are willing and capable, Hilti will provide the tools and coaching needed to succeed. From Europe to Asia, Hilti has continually supported me in my journey and I look forward to continuing to grow together with the company.
What’s really inspiring is the way Hilti drive people development on a global scale. It means the continuous strengthening of competences and skills, and enables motivated people to achieve ambitious career goals. We even won the Talent Partnership award 2017 from Gartner’s SCM World.
I joined Hilti’s global logistics team as a senior project manager, and quickly took over leadership of our global distribution network.
What I’ve noticed is the way Hilti steer the end-to-end value chain, from manufacturing to last mile delivery, and continuously develop it with state-of-the-art lean, digital and ecommerce services. It’s a unique and exciting area in our industry!
Logistics at Hilti is a truly global community. We’re always sharing experiences and ideas across regions and organizations. It’s how we ensure we’re the high-performing, multinational company that we are.
After six years at Hilti, I’m still amazed by the company’s culture and very proud to be part of this success story.
If ever you’re in a tough situation, be it professional or personal, you can be sure to have leaders and peers who’ll go the extra mile to support you. It’s a high-energy environment, whether you find yourself in a business discussion or on an after-work hike in the mountains!
I first made contact with Hilti in Liechtenstein while doing a consultancy project at university. I was inspired by their strong team spirit and drive to innovate, and applied to do an internship with them in production technology research.
I stayed on to do another internship, this time in China, working on lean processes in one of our Shanghai production plants. While this was a very different culture to the one I’d experienced in Schaan, I found the same Hilti spirit in China as in Europe!
I joined Hilti ‘officially’ after graduating from university, and moved into a global role in lean manufacturing. During this time, Hilti supported me in completing my PhD alongside work. It was a big personal challenge for me, which wouldn’t have been possible without the great support of my team and team lead.
My next role involved a move to Germany, where I worked in our Kaufering plant near Munich. I was leading the logistics department while also working on a global project to shape our future supply chain. It was a great learning experience, which has been an essential part of my personal development plan, as agreed between me and my team lead. After three years I took over leading Hilti’s chemical anchor and firestop production unit. A specially exciting topic was here was carving the way to digitilization. 2 years later my next careers step came: as plant Manager I am now responsible for theI whole plant in Kaufering. I’m the youngest member of the plant’s management team and this makes me particularly proud.
After almost than ten years at Hilti – that’s six jobs in nine sites on three continents – I’m still inspired by our highly-motivated team. Everyone is given the chance to learn and grow every day. And in many cases – like mine – we’re given huge responsibility very early in our career.
These Hilti employees share your department and career level but have a different key characteristic.
