Following my MBA, I joined Hilti amid the 2008 financial crisis, during which it was immediately obvious how well the company leadership balanced business needs while taking care of the employees. 12 years later, I continue to be impressed with how well we have taken care of our team during the COVID-19 crisis.
Starting as a Global Product Manager helped understand the integrated business model, passion for the customer needs and differentiation in our innovation cycle. I moved to Singapore, to setup a new hub product & service marketing team, defining the regional power tool strategy while driving the go to market execution.
Returning to the global headquarters, my team was responsible for developing & rolling out of the 3/Free service offering, while leading a cross-functional team to develop the organizational strategy for the Global After Market Service team. Next, we drove the AMS Customer Experience focus to bring a strong customer centricity in our interfaces across the lifetime of the product to drive engagement.
Following that, I was responsible for the Global Product Portfolio Management team that manages the processes, systems and data along our innovation cycles for the various business units and locations. At the end of 2020, I moved to Dubai to head the regional After Market Services team to further drive the service value proposition and develop our team.
In every function & geography, I have found a common Hilti DNA, worked with great teams and inspiring leaders, while leveraging my prior experiences. In addition, the company constantly evolves which keeps me engaged, continuing to learn & helping to develop our next generation of leaders.
For me Hilti is more than just a company to work for as it means great collaboration with colleagues around the world, developing outstanding products & services for our customers and a place that truly cares about personal development.
After my studies I joined Hilti, as I was impressed not only by people working for Hilti but also by the company culture and values, the possibility to work in global teams as well as the innovative products & services.
Starting with the exciting position as Global Process Manager allowed me to get to know the core business and different stakeholders. Moving on to TTM Project Management was giving me the chance to be truly responsible for a product and to follow the development from beginning to the launch. Still missing the direct customer interaction, I decided to take the challenge in a completely new world for me as a sales representative followed by customer service in one of our market organizations. This gave me strong fundamentals about our customers, a big focus of all we do at Hilti.
Within the last twelve years with Hilti I was having the opportunity to be in five different roles broadening my experience each day and taking more responsibility. Being in a leadership position for a few years now perfectly fits to concentrate on my passion to work with a team, develop others, drive great results and incorporating my full experience from my Hilti journey.
In Hilti I found a unique combination of a structured and process driven approach with agility and proactive entrepreneurship, constantly looking for innovation and a better solution.
I first joined the newly founded Hilti Slovakia as a logistics expert in 1993. It was a great learning experience to develop from the logistics perspective and to support growth in the early stages.
Afterwards, I decided to move into a business role to get the full understanding of customer and business needs and open the opportunity to apply for Sales Management and General Management roles in the future. I made this happen in several steps, leading Market Organizations in Romania, Poland and Belarus and later also leading After Market Service as Service Area Manager in different regions such as Eastern Europe, Middle East/Turkey/Africa, and North America. In all my roles I got an opportunity to focus on team development, achievement of results, and developing abilities in strategic projects and teamwork in matrix environments.
I joined Hilti inspired by leaders of the organization and innovative products. Later I learned that the company's culture and environment are what gave me an opportunity to build my career, learn new skills, take on different responsibilities globally, and overcome challenging moments in my career. This has helped me both professionally and personally and is also why I have stayed for an exciting 28 years.
I am looking forward to facing new challenges every day, and to develop new ways to make Hilti more differentiated and successful in the future with my team.
People at Hilti strive to develop better solutions every day. They don’t do it by themselves, but always in a joint effort as a team.
I joined Hilti three years ago as a business developer in global manufacturing. Back then, it was a brand new role, created to both implement and develop Hilti’s global manufacturing strategy. Shaping a new purpose and position, together with my colleagues across the world, was just the challenge I was looking for. I build up a small team to roll out a global manufacturing innovation initiative to the plants and start our digital transformation journey.
After the strategic role in global manufacturing I had the chance to take over an operation unit producing diamond inserts. Being on the shop floor every day, producing our products at highest quality standards and engineering new manufacturing technologies is just a fulfilling and fun job.
It’s so inspiring to see how much passion our people have to drive innovation. Innovation is without doubt an integral part of our DNA.
Be patient about your own development. Take your time to learn, get yourself ready and your dream will come true. Be passionate about the development of others. When you develop others, you develop yourself even more!
I’m amazed how fast the time is flying: seventeen years at Hilti and not one boring day!
When our plant in China was installed 13 years ago, people were concerned about the quality of our power tools. As quality manager, I was inspired by the full trust of my management team to do what I needed to do to within this role. They empowered me to build the Hilti ‘Quality First’ module to ensure the high Hilti standard of all our products.
I’m happy to say that today we have a very good reputation for the quality of our power tools. Having taken on this challenge gives me confidence and strength to take on the next!
What I’ve found really special about working at Hilti are all my great colleagues. I’ve had nine bosses to date, all excellent leaders who have genuinely supported and nurtured my career development. I’ve also learned so much from all the trustful and respectful TEAMs - Together Everyone Achieves More!
Developing our people is part of our normal business, It’s not a case of once or twice a year we think we’d better top up everyone’s training. It’s non-stop, it’s organic. It could be on-the-job coaching, personal mentoring or doing a language course. Everyone has a personalized development plan, and these are genuinely acted upon.
I joined Hilti in 2007, having always worked in logistics. My first role was based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, leading the distribution network on the eastern part of the United States and Canada. This meant fulfilling customer deliveries while learning the commercial and strategic side of the business. After three years, I was given the opportunity to leverage these skills in a completely new part of the organization. I relocated to Germany to lead our central Europe’s warehousing team. A similar role but much more challenging in size and scope, plus the additional learning experience of different cultures and languages.
In 2014, I relocated again, heading up all our logistics for northern Europe. In this position, I’m able to partner with our sales, marketing and finance teams to understand our customers’ needs and then create solutions using our lean tools to fulfil them. At the same time, I’m fortunate to work with some wonderful people and help them develop their careers to the next level.
In mid-2018, I came back to the US, this time to the Hilti North America headquarters in Plano, Texas, to head logistics, where I'm responsble for the teams doing planning, distribution and advanced business solutions and services. Here we are defining and cultivating the logistics strategy that supports Hilti's overall customer experience.
Hilti is a fantastic place for logistics because we own the whole supply chain, which is rare for a company of our size. It means you have full flexibility to address our customers’ needs with all the different disciplines up and down the chain. This also allows for very broad development opportunities. Before I joined Hilti, every job I had was the same, just for different customers. Hilti is more dynamic than that.
These Hilti employees share your department and career level but have a different key characteristic.
