Twelve years ago I couldn’t imagine I would connect so closely with the global leader among professional construction solutions.
Hilti was developing business in Belarus and I was lucky to join a very new, energetic and ambitious team as an Market Organization Assistant. It was a great opportunity to be involved in many processes of the company and get various experiences. I was interested to learn how the business worked in other marketing organizations so I moved to Poland and started my journey in Customer Service. It was a unique opportunity to face the requests from all kinds of customers and develop the understanding on what is best for Hilti customer, and what the Hilti business is about. Later on I moved to the HR team to create and bring to life e-learning strategy in Poland. This period was full of learnings from other organizations and the global team, creating the vision, bringing my ideas to life and collaboration with local team members. Following the passion for creation and business development I joined the Marketing team as Product Manager in our Measuring business unit. Being a part of Polish Marketing team I had an opportunity to explore, develop and implement local strategic initiatives, be close to customer needs and introduce relevant products on Polish market. Following the dream to develop people I’ve become a Customer Service Manager and now lead a team of more than twenty team members.
Being a part of Hilti is to be a community member of great people with unique culture and extraordinary perspectives.
I’m a much better version of myself since working at Hilti – intellectually, as a human being, and from a social responsibility perspective.
It all started in 2001 when a recruitment ad in a local newspaper caught my eye. The global nature and construction focus made this a really unique opportunity in Turkey at that time. I knew that it was something I wanted to explore and apply for.
Hilti opened my mind to new possibilities and opportunities. It took me to HQ in Schaan and had me relocating with my family to South Africa. Before joining, my family and I had never left Turkey, and these experiences have been life-changing. Moving to a completely new place with its own culture could have been daunting, but Hilti made it simple and exciting.
What I love about Hilti is the way I can learn and contribute in all the roles I’ve had. It’s really enabled me to find myself and work out where my strengths sit, especially as I’ve moved through my career. I didn’t even dream of making it to General Manager, but suddenly it started to feel in my reach. Initially I was asking myself “can I really do this?” I proved that I could, and it brought a lot of new responsibilities my way.
Being General Manager comes with its own challenges, but I was able to make changes to bring the team together and create an open environment for conversation. I introduced regular 1-2-1 meetings to stay connected to the team and to help with any issues as they appear. This really bonded us together and made me feel like I could make a difference. It’s not just about me or us as a community though, it’s about our duty to create a better future. As a business we contribute to society, and on a local and regional level, we support kids from underprivileged backgrounds and help them to see hope and potential in their future.
Another thing that has become one of my passions is the possiblity to coach others and help them grow and develop both from a professional and a personal perspective.
Hilti is an inspiring company where our people- and performance-oriented culture and values are not just empty words on framed pictures, but lived every day with passion and commitment by everyone. In Hilti, we can make the difference for ourselves, our colleagues and our customers, every day
I joined Hilti in 2002 as an intern in Corporate Reaserch in Liechtenstein, as part of an international university programme, Unitech, aiming at providing international business experiences to engineering students. I immediately liked the company, its care about people and passion for innovation and continuous improvements. Additionally, it was widely international and operating within my area of university studies, the construction industry.
Being my ambition the possibility to make business sense out of my technical education, I found the company a perfect fit and I decided to start my full-time employment as an Account Manager, in order to gather insights about the company’s customers, products and processes. Since then, the company has continuously given me new opportunities to develop my professional and personal skills, each time complementing my previous experiences and always stretching myself with new tasks and challenges. Jobs and locations have changed often, the people- and result-oriented oriented working atmosphere have remained constant. Over time, my focus and ambition has also developed, from being content-driven on specific functional matters, to being rather people-driven, devoting the biggest part of my time and energy to support and develop the colleagues within my area of influence, trying to inspire them to live their ambitions and contributing at their best to the success of our organization and our customers. Greatly motivated people deliver great customer value: at Hilti we do not only say it, we live it every day.
Hilti is a very forward thinking, progressive company - full of innovation, full of change and always striving to be better at what we do.
I’ve been at Hilti for 12 years, first in customer service and later in sales, where I really found my calling, if you like. I started my sales experience as an account manager and then regional manager, both for the steel construction team.
I now lead our national ON!Track team in the UK, which involves supporting and coaching our sales force, while providing analysis and implementation services for our customers. It’s a really exciting role. ON!Track is our latest software offering and is proving extremely interesting to our customers.
I spend around half of my time in the field with my team, the other half in our Manchester head office. This makes it a demanding job to juggle, but a thoroughly enjoyable one, not least for its variety.
We invest a lot of time and energy in developing our people, and I get a real kick from seeing my team members grow, flourish, better themselves and make long careers for themselves - whether it’s in marketing, sales or other area of the business.
It is all about the people. The teamwork, the passion and the competitiveness is contagious. In this company the words personal growth and lifelong learning have a true meaning. Enjoy the ride.
In 1989 I joined the company at the corporate Headquarter in Schaan, Liechtenstein. Coming directly from the University I started as a Junior Product Manager in our Direct Fastening Business. Working in Product Development whilst not being an engineer by education put me in a very intensive learning cycle right from the start. Many years later I realize that up until today I am still learning something new every day. This is exciting and it never gets boring. Hilti also took me to many places around the globe, be it as a local team member in France, Germany or Switzerland or later in my career as an Executive board member responsible for all the markets.
The opportunity to work in a multicultural and international environment is priceless. It helps you to see the world through different lenses and it develops your ability to adapt immensely. The relationships I have all over the world are a fantastic source of motivation and inspiration. I am very much looking forward to meeting Hilti people again and again. The drive, the commitment and the passion whilst having fun at work is a fantastic mix that makes every day a new experience you would not like to miss.
What also sticks out is the never-ending journey to become better at what we do every day. It pushes us to be leading edge company in many disciplines. We are recognized for that as a Great place to work or as a Top 100 Innovator and many other recognitions for our daily work. Hilti people always find a solution to a problem, they never give up. After so many years one can ask if this can go on eternally. My answer to that is very simple: Hilti has never been as cool as it is right now!
Wherever you are in the globe, being part of Hilti brings a sense of belonging that can’t be described in words.
I joined Hilti 10 years ago and my journey begun in sales in the Netherlands. I had a super cool time. It’s actually doing, being out there in the field and getting to know what the figures you’re reporting on means, building up strong customer relationships... you can’t get that without experiencing sales. You are responsible for that territory, you have to bring results, and I never told anyone I was a Trainee, I just tried to learn as much as possible. When I took over the area it was only at 100,000 francs and it was my job to grow it, and it was a challenge I loved. When I left the territory, I’d got it to 1 million. That makes me super proud.
What’s great about Hilti is the confidence you can have in the brand because of the quality of the products and solutions we’re known for providing. This allows us, as employees, to focus on the job in hand, and doing that well.
It doesn’t really matter where you go within Hilti, USA, Germany or France, there’s always a willingness to help each other out. I think that’s really remarkable. In all the teams I’ve worked on internationally, there’s a common sense of making things work together.
When I took on my most recent role, my boss came to me saying ‘We have a different challenge for you, we want you to do something else, a Head of Marketing role’. I couldn’t believe I was given the opportunity to take on this position, but it was a risk I felt equipped and excited to take. In Hilti you can do incremental step by step, or have your potential spotted and move quicker through your career. That movement isn’t just up, it can be lateral too.
There are still so many other sides to explore with Hilti. For me, it feels like I have had four roles in four different businesses, experiencing variety and getting to see and influence different sides of the company. With a lot still to be discovered, I wake up every day with energy for the projects I’m working on.
Many companies talk about their culture, but Hilti truly lives it. We have a fantastic environment that fosters development for everyone. But it’s also up to you to go for it!
I joined Hilti wanting to work for a global company with a strong brand and drive for innovation. I knew Hilti as a kid. “Give me the Hilti” meant pass me the drill or whatever other tool.
But that’s as far as the plan went. Since joining the company, I haven’t especially chosen my career path. It’s happened more naturally, as I’ve looked for areas I want to develop rather than any specific position.
In this way, Hilti has always presented me with outstanding opportunities, enabling me to get a full picture of the business and to really contribute to its success. I’ve also been fortunate to experience an abroad assignment, which enriched my (and my family’s) personal horizon and gave me a great professional advantage.
Over the years, I’ve got to know many fantastic colleagues and enjoyed the diversity of different cultures. My biggest motivator of all has been the opportunity to develop team members and see them grow into leaders.
One of my great challenges to date has been to lead the global energy and industry team through a severe market downturn, setting the foundation for strong future growth. I’m also proud of my work as part of the Champion 2020 strategy team (our global business strategy), which is now coming to life with many tools being launched and creating a buzz among our sales force and customers alike.
After 18 years with the company, there’s still one thing that excites me every day – our great teams around the globe and their passion to give their very best for our customers. Whenever someone joins the team from another company, their feedback is the same: our culture is unique. It’s the biggest asset we have.
There are not very many companies that have the culture that Hilti has. It is a vast family in more than 120 countries, but well knitted with common culture. The amount of skill development and cultural understanding at Hilti is enormous and there is no limit.
I was hired from the campus by the Regional HR team and I joined Hilti primarily to be with the market leader in innovations. Overall, my Hilti journey so far has been incredible both professionally and personally. It’s been a big learning curve however the cultural aspect and cross functional experience on various topics has been the corner stone of everything I have done at Hilti. I believe all these aspects have made me stay with Hilti and continue the journey.
In my tenure, I have worked on so many varied topics with as many different team’s Internationally and have learnt so much that I can now contribute back to the organization and this is a superb feeling to have.
Hilti is a special company and has a language that is common to all Employees. Culture is one binding force, and I’m proud to say I work for Hilti!
I am proud to work at Hilti. The team is the focus and you can see it at all times. Through cohesion and fun, I am motivated every day to do my best. We work hard and then celebrate our success together - it doesn't get any better than that.
At Hilti, the employees are in the foreground - that's why I decided to start at Hilti back then. What was previously just an easily said sentence has accompanied me throughout my entire affiliation to date. The culture at Hilti and the interaction with the employees is unique and for this reason I am proud to work at Hilti. The focus on strengths motivates me every day and moves me forward in my personal development.
When I started as a sales consultant in the red car, I was able to quickly learn the processes and basics of the company. I built up my network and experienced & helped shape direct sales - the heart of Hilti - at first hand. After a very intensive year, I had the opportunity to advance the topic of ON!Track as a Solution Consultant for my region. In this position in marketing, I was able to get to know other areas of Hilti and learn new aspects.
After this exciting time, I went back to sales as a sales manager for building services in Thuringia. Here I had a team of up to 10 employees and we looked after customers with a turnover of up to half a million euros. It was a very exciting time with great successes and experiences. Once again, it showed how important good customer relations and contacts as well as teamwork are.
With a new challenge in Customer Service, my journey at Hilti continues. It is incredibly exciting to get to know new areas and structures. Here, too, I can actively contribute and shape the future. The personnel responsibility for more than 50 employees is very exciting and it is nice to see how managers believe in me.
These Hilti employees share your department and career level but have a different key characteristic.
